Unforgetable Folk

Beyond The Pale – Bush Gothic

UK album release, England & Wales Tour.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Bush Gothic, the Internationally acclaimed and our favourite Folk Trio from Australia

Three musicians from deepest, darkest, convict stained Melbourne form one of Australia’s most commanding bands. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Welsh National Eisteddfod chose Bush Gothic’s music to represent Australian folk, but don’t be too relaxed about it. Instead get ready to have your homely and totally archaic notions of Australian folk music exploded. The Guardian described fiddle-singer and band leader Jenny M. Thomas as an ‘Edgy rising folk star’ and together with double bassist Dan Witton and drummer Chris Lewis they have toured the most prestigious of arts festivals across the world.

Bush Gothic wander through the dankest, weirdest corners of the trad song books and emerge as post modern slash anti establishment slash folk feminists.

Are they outsiders, lurking on the cultural fringe? Or have they penetrated to the inner core of Australian identity?

BBC Music Magazine gave them FIVE STARS and they are multiple Best Music Award winners at The Adelaide Fringe.

‘Rising folk stars, inventive and edgy’ - The Guardian

‘Extraordinary, even revolutionary. Unforgettable folk.’ - The Canberra Times

‘Rescues Australian folk from the world of beards and blue jeans.’ - The Age

‘Beautiful, evocative and thoroughly enjoyable, Bush Gothic is Australian folk at its finest.’ - Rip It Up Magazine

‘Imagine the most hackneyed old songs of colonial Australia re-imagined as works of exquisite beauty.’ - Music Forum

‘Singing and bowing at the same time and wryly reclaiming lost Australian cultural territory…Jenny M. Thomas, to my mind, means diversity in a very good way. She is like no other violin player on the planet’ - fRoots UK
