Tennessee Waltz and Jeffery Straker

Wirral’s favourite close harmony acoustic country duo return to West Kirby Arts Centre to celebrate the worldwide digital release of their debut album ‘A Different Road’, joined by a very special guest from Canada, singer songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker.

Jeffery and Tennessee Waltz’s Jimmy Rae first met on a songwriting retreat in Ireland in 2004, an event that helped revitalise Jimmy’s passion for songwriting, leading to the release of his debut album ‘Deliverance’ in 2009.

Jeffery’s career has also gone from strength to strength since that seminal week. With eight studio albums under his belt, he has established himself as an in-demand and acclaimed singer-songwriter on the Canadian scene, playing over 100 shows a year around the world. His visit to West Kirby Arts Centre on 5 November as part of his first UK tour will be a treat for all lovers of well-crafted folk and roots songs and fine piano playing.

Jeffery’s musical style has drawn comparisons with the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Elton John and fellow Canadians Neil Young and Rufus Wainwright.

Jimmy has been a stalwart of the local music scene since the early 80s when he first tasted success as part of RCA recording artists, The Reverb Brothers. Accompanied by his partner Sarah-Lou Fletcher on vocals, guitar and mandolin, along with Tom Hutchinson on keyboards and Nick Silver on violin, Jimmy is looking forward to reconnecting with his musical buddy from across the Atlantic after almost 20 years.

Book your tickets now for a night of memorable songs and stories along with some heavenly harmonies and a few surprise collaborations along the way. Tickets: £12 in advance or £15 on the door.
